Eco Swap aims to influence the viewer to become environmentally conscious and increasingly sustainable through means of product awareness, first-hand experience, and financial reasoning.
This informational and interactive display is meant to logically rationalize the environmentally sustainable purchases that may be seen as too expensive or too tedious for a college student, or any other audience members in a time crunch. After researching and understanding the many psychological reasons as to why one may not have the urgency to act, I rationalize the purchase of Eco Swaps instead of everyday single-use disposable items (otherwise known as Eco DROPS) by responding to the barriers of action, such as finances, transportation, storage, location, and time.
While these Eco Swaps will not completely eliminate the waste a person creates, they are meant to develop an environmentally conscious mindset that an audience member can continue to build and act upon as they move from a cramped dorm, to a more independent apartment, to their very own home.
